Science Question:
“How do smaller fractures branch off or away from the main fracture?”
Or “What causes smaller fractures to branch off or away from the main fracture?
Main Results:
1) We found evidence that there are fractures in tectonic regions because there are deep fractures visible from the THEMIS camera. By studying images we have found proof that fractures occur where tectonics are strong.

2) We found other evidence that there are fractures in volcanic regions also because there are wide fractures visible from the THEMIS imaging system. Some volcanic fractures may have been filled up with lava over time and are not visible but there is still proof that the past eruptions of volcanoes on Mars have caused fractures. We have also found that there are the most fractures around young volcanoes like Olympus Mons.

3) We found other evidence that there are many fractures in meteor impact regions because there are some visible fractures in impacted areas on Mars. There are many fractures in impact regions that have been filled up over time by debris and ejecta from other meteorites. Differences between fractures in these regions may be caused by age of the fracture and what geographic features it is near.
