Science Question:
Is there a ratio between amount of craters that exist in and out of Martian channels? If there is, can we make an estimate of how long after the surface was formed, the channel was formed?
Main Results:
1) In this particular image, there was no major difference between the number of craters inside or outside of the channel.

2) Because the number of craters both in and out of the channel was about the same, we must conclude that the channel was formed shortly after the background was created.

3) The formation of each channel on Mars must be unique. In our particular case the channel and background were formed at about the same time based on the crater count. No general statement can be made about the time interval between when the background was formed, and when the channel was formed. Each channel and background would have to be measured individually to get an answer.

Extra Comments:
1) I think MSIP was a good learning experience.

2) The software was difficult, but it helped in the long run

3) We got to use a camera far, far, away
