Science Question:
In a cratered region, roughly where gray hematite was discovered, are there a larger percentage of rampart craters than in another cratered area with the same latitude, but not necessarily the same longitude. We basically wanted to see if there was a link between gray hematite and rampart craters.
The question is essential, because if there were an increased percentage of rampart craters near the gray hematite region, it could increase the evidence that there was once a substantial amount of water at the surface. Our hypothesis was that we would find a larger percentage of rampart craters in regions where gray hematite was discovered than where hematite was not discovered.
Main Results:
Based on our table, there is no larger percentage of rampart craters in or near gray hematite regions. Along with this data, we also obtained a map that shows the rampart craters distributions on the surface of Mars. Based on this map, there are rampart craters that are evenly distributed all over the surface and not particularly in the gray hematite regions. Download the proposal.Download the final paper.
